TIME; Indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole
.
The definition of time, our society’s dependency on time, and the narrative characteristics of tableau vivant become the backbone of my work in photography. In the Untitled series I create a nonexistent story line that only occurs for a split moment, not really knowing whether it’s past or present. I am interested in public and private spaces, juxtaposition, and the cinematic lighting of these spaces. The images in this series are all titled with the same specific moment in time to express simultaneous, uncanny, and strange events that can occur at night. I obscure the figures faces focusing more on gesture and the movement of the body. Overall, this work explores the relationship of time and narrative through open ended images, pulling the viewer out of the common world we live in, and in to the picture itself.
